This is the simplest implementation of AAC conversion with ExtAudio I have seen. Using the software encoder is a good choice to avoid having to deal with interrupts from the hardware encoder, although it uses more CPU. It could be noted that writeBuffer.mBuffers[0].mData should point to a single buffer of interleaved samples of SInt16, so any other PCM format has to be converted first (similar to what [s writeToBuffer:(SInt16*)audio_buf->buffer samples:kSaveWavBufferSamples] does).
